Setup, configure, troubleshoot both Novell NetWare and Windows NT LANs and WANs. Rollout team leader working on a nationwide project upgrading hardware (Compaq), network operating systems (majority being Novell) and software (Norton Antivirus, ArcServe, etc) for R. R. Donnelley (200+ servers, 20,000+ users). Included sites across 9 states (approx 15 sites) over a period of 4 months.

·        One of a handful of people to have full access rights to the root of a two hundred server NDS tree.

·        Re-evaluated and documented changes that had to be implemented due to unforseen circumstances that happened in the field.

·        Installed and tested Norton Antivirus at each site.  Overall testing captured and eradicated over 10,000 viruses at one site.

·        Recognized as the best team on the project.

·        Consulted with clients, assessed needs, designed and implemented solutions.

·        Implemented a program setting up primary and backup support to sites to ensure continuous support of the customer.

Setup, configured and tested the newest version of LANDesk (version 1.5) running on Windows NT 4.0 at the Intel Software Test Lab.

·        Assisted with designing the Novell side of the test lab.  Solely responsible for the installation of the test software on all Windows NT servers.  Assisted in testing and documenting the feasibility of the LANDesk software on Intel’s thin clients.

·        Completed the project in 3 months even though the testing was scheduled for 6 months.

·        Received a monetary and written commendation for “being a team player and doing the impossible!”

Gathered and documented requirements from numerous department heads to design a LAN/WAN utilising two NetWare and one Windows NT 4.0 servers. Supported over 250 workstations and laptops over multiple sites to include configuring, upgrading and making hardware and software recommendations.  Provided hardware and software support for the entire organisation.

·        To ensure optimum integration of new product solutions into existing corporate LAN, I designed and managed a Novell testing network where all testing technologies were carried out prior to installation.  This included network utilities and anitivirus (Norton, network edition).

·        Provided regular systems health and security checks to ensure optimum system uptime.

·        Set up and support of web servers utilizing Netscape FastTrack, Microsoft Internet Information Server and Novell IntranetWare web servers.

·        Support access to the Internet by both a frame relay (with Cisco routers) and modems using Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape 4.0, Spry Mosaic 3.0a or Chameleon Websurfer 4.5.

·        Negotiated with a local vendor over the price of new computers. The cost savings exceeded US$110,000 over 12 months.

Responsible for the electronic repair/calibration and the computer hardware/software areas. Supervisor, manager and administrator on a Novell NetWare version 3.11 Network LAN system, which had 30 users.

·        Maintaining system efficiency by writing programs in QUICKBASIC 4.5, Clipper 5.01a (an d-base compiler), Turbo Pascal 6.0, and Turbo Pascal for Windows.

·        Written two programs that would do an automatic calibration on the 7912 digitizer and 7103 oscilloscopes thus saving time and money by cutting the calibration time in half and the calibration error rate by ninety percent.
